Forest School

Since September 2014 children have enjoyed a Forest School experience each term with their class.

Mr Milam, who after initially volunteering in the school, is now our trained Forest School instructor.

Forest School offers a unique approach to teaching using the outdoors as a learning environment.

It's main aims are to promote self-confidence, motivation and awareness, in addition to good communication, social and emotional skills. The positivity felt by the children at Forest School promotes a positive attitude to learning within the classroom setting.  In addition, technical skills (often using tools) and a greater understanding of our natural environment are also developed.

Year 3/4 are building a longboat.

Year 1 have been exploring spider webs and animal homes.

Years 2 and 3 have been learning how to use tools correctly and tie different knots: overhand, timber hitch and reef.
