Attendance

We aim for all our children to have 100% attendance.

We know there are times when a child is unwell or that there are genuine family reasons for an absence and the Headteacher has the discretion to authorise these absences.

Please see our policies page for our Attendance Policy and click here for our absence request form.

The NHS have a very useful webpage advising parents when a child should be kept home and when they are well enough to go to school.  You can view that information here.

Penalty Notices

Despite being an academy, we are obliged to follow the Hampshire County Council procedures for school attendance.

The Hampshire policy is that if a child takes an unauthorised leave of absence which is for 10 sessions or more (where a morning and afternoon count as 2 sessions), the parents must be issued with a penalty notice. Persistent absence and lateness (after the register has closed) can also count as unauthorised absence.

The Law states that unauthorised absence should result in legal intervention and Hampshire expect all maintained schools and academies to respect adhere to this. The Local Authority has a duty to ensure schools comply with the Law and supports them in providing a legal intervention framework through the Code of Conduct.
